INSEAD MiM Housing in Fontainebleau
Master in Management students have a housing problem MBAs never face: the programme runs August to February, and most Fontainebleau landlords built their leases around MBA dates. Some houses do not accept MiM students at all; others push you into an 11-month contract you don't need. Here is how to get housing shaped for your actual programme.
The MiM lease, side by side
| Programme | Typical lease | Length |
|---|---|---|
| MiM (September intake) | 15 August → 28 February | 6.5 months |
| MBA, autumn only | 15 August → 31 December | 4.5 months |
| MBA, full year | 15 August → 15 July | 11 months |
We offer the 15 August → 28 February lease as a standard option — no negotiation needed, no paying for months you won't use.
Homes that work for MiM students
- A room at The Metropolitan — 3 minutes from campus, every room with its own private bathroom, all inclusive.
- A room at The Continental — 10 minutes' walk, lively 3-room house, all inclusive.
- A private flat or studio — if you prefer your own space or arrive as a couple.
Everything is included: gas, electricity, water, high-speed internet, local taxes, and cleaning. You land, you get keys, you start classes — no French utility contracts to set up in your first week.
Why some houses refuse MiM students: a February departure leaves an awkward gap before the May–June season. We solve this on our side (short stays fill the spring), so your dates are welcome — not a problem to negotiate around.
Three tips from past MiM residents
- Book early — earlier than the MBAs. MiM students compete for the same August rooms; aim for March–May.
- Check the bathroom setup. At the price point where MiM budgets often land, some houses share one bathroom among many rooms. Ask.
- Keep flexibility. In our homes, subletting to another INSEAD student is allowed — useful if your spring plans change.
